A ticket to Peja, please!
I am always
looking for new experiences. Not the dangerous ones though. It was the first
time going on a train ride and it was wonderful. To be honest , at the beginning
I was excited and at the same time kind of anxious to try it. However , as I
always do in these cases, I searched for timetables , locations and everything.
I took my friend and we went to find the train station here in Prishtina. Once
we found it , I felt released, because the Google Map looked like it had some issues
with us for the reason that it was showing the train station further away than
it actually was.
We got into
the train and looked for seats to sit. Once we got seats, I immediately started
taking photos. The train was different than what I expected. Movies have made
me imagine the train as something huge and scary. Looking from the outside , I
thought that it was going to be old and unbearable. And this is how it looked
like inside.
However , I can say that I enjoyed it. The chairs were comfortable. So comfortable that I took a nap. The people there were kind and they were willing to help us out with anything. Throughout the way going , I kept my eyes on the window near my seat , observing outside many beautiful views , which I don’t come across every day.
We arrived in Peja and we used the opportunity to explore the city.We went to the center of the city and stopped by until it was the time to return to Prishtina. Then we went back to the train station , got seated and waited for the train to leave. This is how the train looked from outside.
The train was so slow that in a moment I thought I could walk as its speed. But it made me feel good and special and think that we are in our own world , because we were avoiding that traffic jam that vehicles make. And surprisingly , the train was arriving on time at the stations. Yes , I was surprised because this is not a common thing in our country. There weren’t many passengers when we took the train in the morning , but the train was full of people on the way back to Prishtina, inclusive of a cute baby that got our attention.
What was really interesting to me was the sound that the train made, like a kind of whistle. But why do trains make that noise? If you think I know the answer , you’re wrong , because I forgot to ask the conductors there. I’ll ask them next time.
If you haven’t tried a train ride yet, what are you waiting for?
