A mesmerizing room

A mesmerizing room

Hello my art lovers!

Today, like most of my days, I couldn't wait to come home and write to you about the place I chose to visit today, but first I wanted to ask you something.

What does a woman symbolize to you ?

Today I am going to talk about a beautiful exhibition  I had the chance to visit about feminism in art which was also named after that “Feminism in art” and was held in Kult Plus, Prishtina.

Women are the most beautiful creatures the human eye can lay their eyes on , not only are they beautiful but each woman has their own superpowers. I was very happy to see the way people are becoming more aware of appreciating women and everything that they do.

As I said every woman has their superpowers but it's sad that not everyone can see them. In order to spread more awareness a group of young girls and boys got together to express their messages throughout their paintings and what better occasion than the 8th of March - the international Women’s day .

Each painting containing both abstract and realistic art had its own message hidden under their painting , some of them explaining the power of women , some the importance of them in the society , the sacrifices they had taken during history and the evolution they have made until now. I had the opportunity to talk with some of the artists that were there and they told me about what they wanted to express from their works.

What caught my eye was this beautiful and special painting in its own way. It was a painting of a woman on a zebra, and what I got to understand was that the zebra is a very special animal , the lines that each zebra has on their body symbolizes something very special and it was connected with how each woman is special on their own, which to me was fascinating to hear the connection the artist made between the two . International women’s day is all about realizing their worth, on this day the world unites to appreciate their courage to cross all the hurdles and make such tremendous improvement in almost all the spheres of life.

A painting that also caught my eye was one of the famous Frida Kahlos ,the woman who is known as an artist who left an indelible mark in the field of painting.

She was an artist who, through her art, touched many women's issues, starting from childbirth to abortion. Things that are considered taboo, Frida broke them through art. Frida relished in breaking the rules, both in her art and her life. She surrounded herself with other inspiring creatives and thinkers. One of the reasons her work is so widely celebrated is because it was unlike anything preceding it. Though she was well aware of her uniqueness, she encouraged others to embrace their inner weirdo too. She was also one who defied gender stereotypes, Frida smoked, won tequila challenges against men, and dressed like a man in a family portrait, contrasting to her mother and sisters who wore dresses. She refused to alter her ‘masculine’ features, including her mono-brow and faint mustache, and actually exaggerated these features in her self portraits.

This exposition was a beautiful experience with amazing meanings in every corner of the room. I am very happy to see how people are becoming more aware of how beautiful and precious every woman is .
